Infinix Hot 8 – The first of It’s Kind

Infinix just rolled out her best battery centric smartphone for the budget market in Nigeria, they called it the Infinix Hot 8.



In case you are wondering how the Infinix Hot 8 came about since we didn’t get to hear about her official launch in Nigeria.

Well, the Infinix Hot 8 was first unveiled  in India. We first saw it there, now it is here in  Nigeria looking all brand new for 2019.

Brand new in the sense that it has succeeded in setting another landmark in the history of budget smartphones.

The Infinix Hot 8 is simply the first Infinix smartphone to have a 5000mAh battery size in Nigeria.

The Infinix Hot 8 will come in four different colors; quetzal cyan, cosmic purple, shark gray and midnight black. It is selling at a budget friendly price in Nigeria.

Design

The Infinix Hot 8 comes with a glass unibody tear drop notch design. From head to toe, you can clearly see that the bezels around the display are smaller now.

It therefore means that we are now saying good bye to the notch we saw on the Infinix Hot 7 few months ago. That was 2019, remember?

This is progress anyway. Let us proceed and do some more thorough examination of this particular smartphone.

On the right is the volume and power button, there is also a 3-in-1 card slot on the left but there is no single placement at the top.

When you move down to the bottom, you will see other essential placement like speaker, micro USB port and 3.5mm headphone jack.

Talking about speaker, the Infinix Hot 8 has DIRAC stereo widening Technology that helps with better sound quality on the speaker.

At the back, you will find a triple camera setup and a fingerprint reader that is placed slightly above the center. You will also see the Infinix brand and Hot name inscription at the rear.

Display

The display on the Infinix Hot 8 is a 6.6 inch tear drop notch display that comes with a 2.5D glass protector.

The Infinix Hot 8 display is a LCD IPS type, it maintains a 720 x 1600p resolution and 450nit brightness that is bright enough to shine even when you are outside.

The display which occupies almost every part of the front, it consumed up to 90% screen to body ratio and a 20:9 aspect ratio.

The viewing experience on this device is a pleasant one, with the Infinix Hot 8 in your hand, you can do a lot of online streaming, movie watching and gaming in Nigeria.

Camera

On the Infinix Hot 8 is an 8MP AI front-facing camera with f/2.0 aperture and magic LED flash. It is good at taking amazing selfies in any scene, be it low-light or bright scenes.

The selfie camera in front has portrait mode, AI beauty mode and WideSelfie. There is also an AR stickers with motion detecting Technology.

Infinix was intelligent enough to implement a triple rear camera setup on the Hot 8 in order to keep up with the design trend in Nigeria.

You know, this particular design trend on camera is common among smartphones that were launched in 2019.

At the back of the is an AI triple rear camera setup that consist of a 13MP main camera, a 2MP depth sensor and a dedicated low-light sensor with quad LED flash to support.

There are also other key camera features like Google lens, Auto scene detection, AR Animoji modes, AI HDR, panorama, custom bokeh and PDAF on the Infinix Hot 8 camera.

Battery life

Under the hood is a 5000mAh non-removable battery that comes with a 2A fast charger that gives you 0% – 100% in 3 hours and continue to enjoy for 4 days when her battery lab adopting AI intelligence is turned on.

The battery lab adopting AI intelligence is a controlled power consumption system that helps to optimize power conservation without compromising user experience.

One good thing about battery lab is her ability to study user habit and execute an intelligent power saving strategy to improve battery life by a great deal.

This new battery upgrade is commendable considering the fact it is the first time we are seeing a huge battery capacity on not just the Hot series but Infinix smartphone as a whole.

These days, I am very impress to see a good number of smartphone manufacturers in the budget category come into Nigeria with flagships that are self-sufficient in battery life.

Honestly, that is the way to go. Somehow some way, Infinix have been able to make the Hot 8 have a reasonable weight of only 179gram even with her 5000mAh battery.

The 5000mAh battery can handle up to 14 hours video playback, 22.5 hours music playback, 11.5 hours gaming time, 18.6 hours internet surfing, 17.6 hours 4G talk time and 26 days standby time.

Software & Spec

The Infinix Hot 8 is well equipped with software, it comes with Android 9.0 Pie Operating System that is based on XOS 5.0 cheetah UI.

The Infinix XOS 5.0 cheetah User Interface looks very simplistic. It works pretty fast, light and smooth on the Infinix Hot 8.

There are also new applications that have been added up to the ecosystem. You will get to see new Apps like Yo party, vskit and Xshare app for files sharing in Nigeria.

Also available on the Infinix Hot 8 is a MediaTeK Helio P22 chipset that runs on a 2.0 GHz octa-core processor with 64 bit.

The storage configuration on this device is a 2GB RAM and 32GB ROM which is expandable via micro SD card slot up to 128GB.

Security features

As expected, face unlock and fingerprint scanner are the two main security features on the Infinix Hot 8. The face unlock have now been improved upon, it is now 0.3 seconds faster.

The Game mode on the Infinix Hot 8 is have also been Improved upon. It now have a frame rate speed that is 125% better than normal.

And because of this, there is now a 113% boost in gaming time by 113% on a single charge in Nigeria.

The Wi-Fi access also received some upgrades by 6.7%. you can now do a lot of Wi-Fi activities and expect a high level of efficiency.

My thoughts

Infinix have just done a great job with the launch of her Hot 8 especially now that a lot of people in Nigeria now place much attention on the battery life of a smartphone.

The Infinix Hot 8 when compared with the Hot 7 will open your eyes to see how far Infinix have gone in her Hot series line-up.

I will round up by saying the Infinix Hot 8 is simply the way to go if you want a budget smartphone with awesome battery life from Infinix Mobility in Nigeria.

    1. The Infinix Hot 8 will appear more in 2GB RAM which is no doubt the “lite” version. The one with 4GB RAM will follow suite and sell around 50k plus or more
