Huawei has another one stop and shop smartphone for you. The Y8p is her name, it is a pretty decent smartphone that comes with standard features that might interest you in Nigeria.
With the absence of Google play store, there is hardly much you can do to here. The Huawei AppGallery is said to replace that though but the whole thing is still in development.
That said, the Huawei Y8p still has it good when it comes to hardware features among other things. The color options alone defines the beauty. You are quick to notice that the 3.5mm headphone jack is still here.

Design & Display
The Huawei Y8p is no doubt a beauty in her class. Her body alone says it all. It has a 3D curved edges that fits in perfectly with the sleek and ultra-light body.
The measurements is also of reasonable length, hitting a perfect dimension of 157.4 x 73.2 x 7.75mm. This makes the Huawei Y8p look kind of portable and feel very comfortable in your hand.
On the display, we’ve got a 6.3” OLED dewdrop display with a 2400 x 1080p ultra-clear resolution that provides you with a remarkable visual experience and cinematic color gamut.
The Huawei Y8p does have a 90.7% screen-to-body ratio. The display is good with bright dark details, it makes them extremely clear and vivid during video, gaming and general media consumption in Nigeria.
Camera & Battery
Beginning from my front, there is a 16MP f/2.0 front-facing camera to shot with. You can also record your daily life through a simple snap from the selfie camera.
At the back is an AI triple camera that is made up of a 48MP ultra-clear main lens, an 8MP ultra-wide angle lens and a 2MP depth lens. The main 48MP main lens has fine details to make your photos appear sharp and clear.
The Huawei Y8p is powered by a 4000mAh battery. It supports video playback, music playing or web surfing for a reasonable amount of time in Nigeria.
The comes with a 10W charger right out of the box but you are quick to notice the absence of the trending fast charging feature. It Huawei Y8p takes about 2 hour+ to complete from 0-100%.
Software & Specs
On the software scene, we’ve got an Android 10 OS based on EMUI 10.1 pre-installed inside. To download, manage and share mobile apps, you can make use of Huawei’s official app store called the AppGallery.
The Huawei Y8p comes with 6GB RAM that effectively allows you to run multiple Apps simultaneously and switch between them fluently as you navigate through.
The 128GB ROM on the other hand offers you much storage for all your favorite videos, photos and games. Expandable option is also available via micro SD card slot, up to 256GB.
Final Thoughts
What a smartphone we’ve got here, an incredible piece if you ask me. Cool design, cool color options and the list goes on. If not for the absence of Google play store, the Huawei Y8p almost had it all.
Regardless, we have seen how much of a big deal the features stock inside the Huawei Y8p played a big role in addressing some few things. So even when Google apps are gone, there are cool features to compensate for.
