——–Image credit: Henreeneo——–Gionee showed up with an all new smartphone in her M series line up to kick start the year 2020. This is another seasonal launch we are seeing in Nigeria after a bit of pause for a moment.
Gionee have not really been on top of her game for a while now. This is because Gionee went bankrupt in the last quarter of 2018. Ever since, there have been some level of inconsistency with her smartphone launch.
The Truth we must say, we missed Gionee a lot. Am happy they are gradually recovering and getting her foot into the market especially now that they have decided to roll out the M11 in January.
The Gionee M11 is a slightly budget smartphone. Yeah! “Slightly” because it comes with features that are above entry-level. So it will be unfair to call it a typical budget smartphone.
Am not saying it is wrong to call the Gionee M11 a budget smartphone, I just want you to have a clear representation of the kind of smartphone we are talking about here.

Availability & Price of Gionee M11 in Nigeria
The Gionee M11 is selling at an affordable price in Nigeria. It cost $120 which is about 43,000 naira.
Design & Display
The Gionee M11 comes with what i call a traditional design. It has a tear drop notch at the top and a body that is made of glass (front and back) with a plastic in between.
There is also a 3.5mm headphone jack at the top. You will also find two speaker grills at the bottom and a USB Type-C port in between. Yes! USB-C port. No more micro USB anymore.
On the right is the volume and power buttons, the sim tray is on the left. The camera setup and a physical fingerprint scanner are at the back. That’s it for the body. Let’ now talk about the display.
The Gionee M11 has a 6.3 inch IPS LCD screen that is vivid, bright, clear and sharp. It has some solid details that will make you wanna confuse it for an OLED panel at a glance but the truth is, it’s an LCD display with a 2.5D glass on-top.
Camera & Battery
On the camera, we are having a 13MP AI Selfie camera and a 16MP main + 5MP depth camera with LED flash at the back. The Gionee M11 however comes with a 4000mAh battery which can last for a complete day on a single charge.
Software & Specs
The Gionee M11 comes with an already installed Android 9.0 Pie Operating system with Gionee custom UI on top. It has 4GB RAM & 64GB ROM storage configuration which can be expandable via micro SD card up to 256GB.
The Gionee M11 also received a MediaTek6763 chipset and a Mali G71 GPU. It runs on a 2.0GHz octa-core processor. Processing, rendering and performance on this smartphone is just as fine.
My Thoughts
Am gonna be as real I can here. I get it, Gionee is recovering from a bankrupt situation and as such they have limited resources at their disposal so producing a mind blowing smartphone with incredible features will be kind of hard. Right? Yeah!
The truth? This phone right here called the Gionee M11 is not just it. Even you can tell. In the market right now, there are tons of budget smartphones with punch-hole display, pop-up selfies camera and the likes. But Gionee decided to give us this.
Where is the Gionee we use to love before? Someone should please answer me?
I believe Gionee can do better. The year is just starting honestly, there is gat to be more. The competition is heavy man! In Nigeria, Ghana and Africa as a whole.
If Gionee really wants to regain her foot in Africa, they’ve got to come up with a smartphone that is really innovative.
