Design & Display

I must confess, the design of the Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus is one of a kind. At first impression, one cannot help but notice the size of this phone. Dude! The smartphone is big!

You will also find a couple of other thing like the huge display interesting if you are a fan of big screens in Nigeria. The display is really massive. That is what everyone is saying!

The display available here is a 6.9 inch Quad HD+ dynamic AMOLED 2X infinity-O display which has a 3200 x 1440 resolution and is HDR10+ certified. Videos can be streamed at 8K on YouTube with 5G.

This is by far the biggest and best display ever seen on a Samsung smartphone as far as 2020 is concern.

It however has the most impressive 120Hz display rate which is by far a remarkable upgrade you will love so much when you buy this smartphone in Nigeria.

The Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra has a solid camera system that is made up of a 40MP selfie camera, 12MP ultra-wide, 108MP wide-angle, 48MP telephoto and a DepthVision camera with flash.

For the first time we are having the first 108MP camera on a Samsung Galaxy smartphone even though expensive flagships like the IPhone 11 Pro Max in Nigeria still make use of a 12MP camera.

However, you can dynamically switch between the 108MP and 12MP via the nona-binning technology available on this device. You can also zoom at any point from 10x Hybrid Optic to 100x Super resolution.

The Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra have large sensors which can absorb more light even in low light conditions. Videos can be recorded in a super-sharp resolution at 8K with OIS and Super Steady to help with stability.

With all these impressive camera features available on the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra, one would have expected to see the best camera on this device in Nigeria but that didn’t turn out to be the case.

The Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra comes with a typical 5000mAh battery, it has an improved wireless charging speed with fast wireless charging 2.0 which supports 45W SuperFast charging and has wireless PowerShare.

The battery can last for a full day of moderate use. This will however surprise you because you least expect to enjoy an extended battery life on a smartphone with a 6.9inch display even though it comes with a 5000mAh battery.

All thanks to Samsung for integrating a powerful system that can intelligently adjust to your mobile habits to save power and last way longer on a single charge in Nigeria. The battery works pretty decent.

To personalize your security Samsung created a secure processor dedicated to protecting your PIN, password, pattern, and Blockchain Private Key Combined with the Knox platform.

Software & Specs

Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra comes with Android 10 Operating System based on One UI 2 which is by far the cleanest, simplest and most intuitive User Interface Samsung has ever made. It has Samsung health and Samsung pay integrated inside.

The processor on the Galaxy S20 Ultra comes in two variant: 7nm 64-bit Octa-core processor, 2.7GHz (Maximum Clock Speed) + 2.5GHz + 2GHz or 7nm 64-bit Octa-core processor, 2.8GHz(Maximum Clock Speed) + 2.4GHz + 1.8GHz. The available options will differ with country.

The storage configuration available here is a 12GB or 16GB RAM with an optional 128GB / 256GB or 512GB ROM which is expandable via microSD card up to 1TB.

My Thoughts

Samsung pulled us front with her most sophisticated flagship of the year – The Galaxy S20 Ultra. Hearing the name alone sends a big message to everyone in Nigeria.

It is expensive and sophisticated. Just sit down for a moment and think about her 12 & 16GB RAM, hmm… this is definitely going to be someone’s dream smartphone in Nigeria.

If you are gamer, you are going to find this smartphone interesting. Her huge screen and high refresh rate will make mobile gaming a moment to live for.

See how technology is improving year after year, we are now having smartphones that are more powerful than some laptops in Nigeria. This is Samsung best smartphone yet.
