So the new champ is here, the successor to the 7T Pro have finally landed. Shipping in with some interesting upgrades that match the price it is selling at.

Although, there have been some slight changes, the upgrades were however done with moderation so as to make room for a bigger variant to smash in some big pie.

Also, the level of beauty on the OnePlus 8 is top notch especially when you decide to choose the Interstellar Glow color. which in return makes the OnePlus 8 very attractive.

Design & Display

The OnePlus 8 is a well structured smartphone. Over the years, we have seen how OnePlus have significantly improved the design of their smartphones in Nigeria and this is not different at all.

From top to bottom, you can see how much of a flagship this is. The OnePlus 8 is beautiful in every way. The placements are intact and the design is well structured to add up.

Take a look at the back and admire the shinny matte glass finish that fits in perfectly with the camera bomb. In front is another game entirely, you will first notice the 6.55 inch display with curved edges. What! Curved edges?.

Yes! the display on the OnePlus 8 now have rounded corners otherwise know as curved edges as some will call it. The display is fluid AMOLED, it feature a 1080 x 2400p resolution, 402PPI and 20:9 aspect ratio.

The 6.55inch OLED display has a vibrant color effect, you are sure to notice how colorful this thing appears within a short time. No wonder OnePlus decided to put a 3D Corning Gorilla Glass in front.

The display is very vivid, crisp, clear and sharp. Playing games, watching movies, reading and doing all kinds of screen activities with the OnePlus 8 is amazing.

Camera

The Camera on the OnePlus 8 shots decently even though it is not the number one in Nigeria. The punch hole camera in front has a Sony IMX471 sensor accompanied by a 16MP selfie shooter with Fixed AutoFocus.

It has an f/2.45 aperture and can shot 1080p video at 30fps. Camera features like Face Unlock, HDR, Screen Flash and Face Retouching are also available on the selfie camera.

The main camera also has the Sony IMX586 sensor and a combination of 48MP + 2MP + 16MP cameras. The first is the main, the second is macro while the third is Ultra-wide.

The rear camera which comes with dual LED flash has AutoFocus, optical zoom, super slow motion, video editor, Electronic and Optical Image stabilization. It also can record 4K video at 30/60 fps.

Other camera features like CINE aspect ratio video recording, UltraShot HDR, Nightscape, Micro , Portrait, Pro Mode, Panorama, Cat & dog face detection & focus, AI Scene Detection and RAW Image are available on the camera app.

Battery

The battery capacity on the OnePlus 8 is a 4300mAh non-removable battery with warp charge 30T Fast Charging (5V/6A) feature that connects via the USB-C port.

These gives you much freedom to do lots of stuffs with the OnePlus 8 in Nigeria without the need to worry about spending much time charging for too long.

On the average, the battery can take you through the day but that depends on the kind of usage in Nigeria. There is no wireless charging here which is kind of sad.

Software & Specs

The OnePlus 8 comes with her homemade OxygenOS based on Android 10. There is also a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 with Adreno 650 GPU behind the scene.

The storage configuration available here comes in two options: 8GB/12GB RAM with 128GB/256GB. And of course, there is expandability option.

The OnePlus 8 comes with the following sensors: Accelerometer, Electronic Compass, Gyroscope, Ambient Light Sensor and Proximity Sensor.

Final Thoughts

There is nothing to say more, the OnePlus 8 is still a global mid-range flagship with a good number of ups and some little downs even though it does seem understandable.

OnePlus had to shave off some features to make up for the price. The number one thing we miss here is wireless charging which is hard to find on a budget but there is fast charging to compensate.
