Design

The Tecno Spark 4 comes with a colorful gradient design that is sufficiently rich in styling and colors to complement.

For the first-time, the Spark series is getting a tear drop notch and the Spark 4 is lucky enough to pioneer this very concept.

I must say I am more than happy to see the Tecno Spark 4 get some new refresh in her design. The shift from a notch display to a dot notch is indeed a welcome idea.

One major thing you will notice about this smartphone is her new size. It looks bigger than the Spark 3 we saw in Nigeria some couple of months ago.

Tecno also moved a step further in the camera department, there is now a number 3 camera this time. isn’t that great?

They also took away the flashlight in front, I will tell you what they did to it when we get to the camera section of this review.

Display

The display on the Tecno Spark 4 is considered the biggest upgrade on this device. Before now, we haven’t gotten a massive display as huge as this on the spark series.

Thank God they have decided to spread their wings this far, we are now looking at a 6.5inch HD+ screen that is crisp, clear and bright.

There is also a 720x1600p resolution with 90% perfect screen ratio, high image quality and super full view experience. Watching your favorite movies, play games and doing some studies is exciting here.

Camera

The Tecno Spark 4 comes with an 8MP front-facing camera that is good at taking selfies during the day or at night when the hidden flashlight is turned on.

At the back is an AI triple rear 13MP camera with LED flash support for night mode. The camera now have a newly upgraded algorithm called “AI camera 2.0”.

With AI camera 2.0, you can do some amazing photography functions like AI HDR, AI scene detection and more.

The Tecno Spark 4 is good at taking photos even in backlight scenarios. The camera avoids overexposure of light and clearly show case dark details.

The overall performance of the camera on the Tecno Spark 4 is amazing, pictures taken with this phone are quite impressive. The camera works great in any scene.

Battery life

The Tecno Spark 4 comes with a long-lasting battery that is of reasonable capacity. We are talking about a 4000mAh built-in battery that is self-sufficient for an average user in Nigeria.

It is a good thing to see Tecno upgrade the battery life of the Spark 4 especially now that battery life is very important to most people in Nigeria.

Software & Spec

The Tecno Spark 4 comes with a preinstalled Android 9.0 Pie Operating System that is based on HIOS 5.5 UI which we all know is Tecno latest User Interface for 2019 in Nigeria.

The Tecno Spark 4 runs on a 2.0 GHz quad-core processor that is quite fast and good with multitasking and power management.

When it comes to storage configuration, the Tecno Spark 4 received a 2GB RAM and 32GB ROM that offers a reasonable amount of space for photos, music, videos and file storage with expandability option.

Security features & more

There are two main security features on the Tecno Spark 4. The first is a rear fingerprint scanner while the second is face unlock.

The face unlock is now in her second generation (version 2.0).

There is now a new feature called “closed-eye detection” on face unlock 2.0. It lets you unlock the Tecno Spark 4 even when your eyes are not fully open.

The game department also received some upgrades. In here, you will discover that there is a better optimized game boost and game mode.
