Xiaomi not too long ago announced her intention to join the already saturated smartphone market in Nigeria. Did they actually did?

Hmm you guess it…Yes!

This means more competition in Nigeria. But the big question is: Can Xiaomi fit in? well, I can’t really say but I guess they got their strategies planned out already.

Xiaomi is now in Nigeria, you can now buy their smartphones with peace of mind. Particularly her recently launched Tech piece – The Redmi Note 7.

The Redmi Note 7 is a budget smartphone that comes with a good number of nailed out features. Aside her premium design, the camera is enough to convince you.

The Redmi Note 7 comes in 3 different colors: space black, neptune blue and nebula red. It will be available first on Jumia before entering other online and offline stores in Nigeria.

Design

The Redmi Note 7 comes with an impressive premium look that is made up of a stylish gradient 2.5D corning gorilla glass on both sides (front & back) and a plastic body in the middle.

Okay now I get it, this is 2019, the year of glass body.

Aside having a premium look, the Redmi Note 7 now have slim bezels with small chin at the base. It comes in a sizable body that measures 159.21 x 75.21 x 8.1mm and weighs 186g.

There is also a well carved-out notch at the top and this is where the earpiece is positioned. Moving a little bit forward from the notch, you will see the 3.5mm headphone jack and the IR blaster.

The Power and volume buttons are on the right side, the microphone, speaker grill and USB type-C port are at the bottom while the fingerprint sensor and camera shooter are perfectly positioned at the back.

Display

The display on the Redmi Note 7 is amazingly awesome. This phone comes with a 6.3inch FHD+ water drop display that is very rich in colors.

To ensure better and quality viewing experience, the Redmi Note 7 boost a 2340 x 1080p resolution, a 409ppi and a 19.5:9 aspect ratio.

That said, the Redmi Note 7 have up to 1500:1 contrast ratio, 84% NTSC color gamut with color temperature adjustment. This even guarantees more clarity.

To extend battery life and enjoy even more on the full view display, you can switch between using either the sunlight display, night display, reading mode and standard mode.

Camera

The Redmi Note 7 comes with a 48MP + 5MP AI dual rear flagship level camera that have up to 1.6μm large pixel (4-in-1 Super Pixel) and f/1.8 aperture lens.

In front is a 13MP selfie camera that is well equipped with notable camera features like AI portrait mode, background blurring, AI beautify, face recognition, Selfie timer, HDR and an AI scene detection with up to 12 categories.

That’s not all, there are also other amazing camera features available on the 48MP + 5MP rear AI camera like Single-tone flash, Low light enhancement, Standard HDR, Auto HDR, Video stabilization (EIS), Burst mode and Panorama mode.

The main camera on the Redmi Note 7 does have support for video and audio format with up to 27 AI scene detection categories.

As we saw in the front- facing camera, there is also a hand held
AI portrait mode, background blurring and Face recognition on the dual rear cameras too.

Battery life

A feature-filled smartphone requires decent battery life and of course fast charging to recharge easily. So here is what we got on the Redmi Note 7.

The Redmi Note 7 is well equipped with power, it comes with a Long-lasting 4000mAh built-in battery that have Qualcomm quick charge 4 tech inside.

The 4000mAh battery is sufficient to power the Redmi Note 7 for at least a day or two depending on the user. If you are a very light user, here’s what you stand to enjoy.

On the Redmi Note 7, you can enjoy up to 251 hours stand by time, 23 hours calling, 13 hours video playback and 7 hours of gaming.

Software & Spec

The Redmi Note 7 comes with android 9.0 pie OS that is based on MIUI 10.2 interface which allows for easy navigation and better customization.

It rocks a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chipset that runs on a 2.2GHz 14nm octa-core kryo processor, Adreno 512 GPU with up to 850MHz.

The Redmi Note 7 comes in 3 main variants: 3GB + 32GB, 4GB + 64GB and 4GB + 128GB with supports for storage expansion via micro SD card, up to 256GB.

What More?

The Redmi Note 7 also comes with a Gyroscope, Accelerometer, Distance sensor, electronic compass, Fingerprint sensor, Ambient light sensor, and GPS navigation.

Inside the box you will find the Redmi Note 7, a 5V/2A adapter, a USB type-C cable, SIM ejector, a soft case, user guide and of course a warranty card.

My Thoughts

From top to bottom, the Redmi Note 7 is rich in every area. Is it the design you want to talk about, battery, display, camera or the storage configurations.

The Redmi Note 7 checked them all. The surprising part of it is her price tag. When you see this phone in a shelf, you are definitely going to ask if it is really a budget smartphone.

Don’t be scared, the Redmi Note 7 is a smartphone you can afford to buy in Nigeria. Who knows this might end up becoming the best alternative for many in Nigeria.

  2. You are not far from the truth. If you ask me to choose, the Xiaomi redmi note 7 will go straight into my bag.
    I have had the opportunity to handle Xiaomi products in Nigeria and believe me, their smartphones are great plus they already have care centers in Nigeria. Happy buying!

    • I will never advice you to buy Uk used smartphones in Nigeria. From my own experience and also that of my friends, Uk used smartphones are never complete, there is always something missing.
      I suggest you to buy a brand new Redmi note 7 pro and have peace of mind.
