Samsung just unveiled the Galaxy S20 and S20 Plus, brand-new interesting flagship for the decade. They also released another big flagship called the “S20 Ultra”.
Finally, we are glad these phones are out, the rumors and leaks are over now even though majority of them turned out to be true in Nigeria.
Before we dive into the full review, I am quite sure majority here are wondering how Samsung arrived at the ‘S20’ name when we both know that S10 was the last naming champ.
Well, Samsung felt it was good to have a new name since we just turned a new decade. Don’t you think it was nice they did that? New name means new stuffs right? Well, the Galaxy S20 got new stuffs.

Samsung Galaxy S20 Price in Nigeria
In Nigeria, the Samsung Galaxy S20 cost pretty much. The price of the 4G variant starts at £799 in UK, only the 5G It will be available in the US at a price starting at $999. The Samsung Galaxy S20 come in 3 amazing colors: cosmic grey, cloud blue and cloud pink to choose from.
Design
The Samsung Galaxy S20 comes with a very simple and good looking design. In front, we have a huge display that is occupying everywhere since there is no notch at the top but rather a miniscule camera hole.
The sides and edges also look refined and sweet, the camera bump at the back does compliment. You will notice that the sensors are larger now.
The Samsung Galaxy S20 will have dual and single SIM model so expect to find either of the two in Nigeria. I also must let you know that the headphone jack is gone, there is no single trace of it on this device.
Display
The display on the Samsung Galaxy S20 is a 6.2” Quad HD+ dynamic AMOLED 2x display which has a 3200 x 1440p resolution and a 563ppi with cinema-quality viewing. The infinity-O display is HDR+ certified, it offers a big, immersive screen with limited onscreen interruption.
It is protected by a gorilla glass 6. The display comes with a 120Hz refresh rate that lets you navigate and scroll smoothly with seamless screen transition. There is also an eye care that prevents eyestrain and sleep disturbances.
Camera
The Camera on this Samsung Galaxy S20 is standard. In front, there is a 10MP selfie camera. You will also find a 12MP ultra wide, 12MP wide-angle and 64MP telephoto camera sensors at the back of this device.
The 64MP high resolution camera offers sharper resolution that keeps the clarity, even when you crop way into images. Her large image sensor size of 1/1.76 inch will help achieve a lot in Nigeria.
The Samsung Galaxy S20 has 3x hybrid optic zoom and 30x super resolution zoom. Video recording can now be done at 8k which is 4 times bigger than UHD and 16 times bigger than FHD.
Video recording here is great, the Super steady camera feature available here helps to stabilizes videos you record in Nigeria. There is even an editing suite on the camera for editing video on the go. The magnificent 8k video recording is present here.
The camera app also comes with industry standard camera features like HDR, HDR+ recording, photo and video bokeh, super slow-mo, front and back conversion 4k UHD recording , AR doodle, 3D scanner and quick measure.
Battery
The Samsung Galaxy S20 gives you all day power with a powerful battery maxing out at 4000mAh which can automatically adjust to your mobile habits so as to save power and last way longer on a single charge in Nigeria.
Battery features like superfast charging, fast wireless charging 2.0 and wireless Powershare are inhouse. Your buds, watch and even your friend’s phone can be charged at the back of this very smartphone. So don’t be stingy, show some love please!.
Software & Specs
As expected, the Samsung Galaxy S20 comes with Android 10 OS base on One UI 2.0 designed for everyday simplicity. This device has an IP68 rating which can stand up to 1.5 meters of water for up to 30 minutes.
When it comes to storage configuration, the Samsung Galaxy S20 can either be seen in a powerful 8GB (LTE) or 12GB (5G) RAM depending on the variant you which to go for.
On the inside, there is an enhanced 7nm processor with built-in advanced AI. The internal storage available here has a 128GB ROM with expandability option via microSD card, up to 1TB.
All of Samsung mobile essentials features like Bixby, Bixby vision, Samsung Knox, Authentication, surround sound, Samsung DEX etc. are all inside the Galaxy S20.
My Thoughts
Samsung have done a great job here, they have just shown us a typical example of what is like to be at the top. The features on this smartphone are amazing, there is hardly an area that didn’t receive any boost.
Gradually, our dream smartphone have started to come up. A simple and yet powerful smartphone like the Samsung Galaxy S20 is a flagship you will hardly say no to when you see it in Nigeria.
Let’s also keep it in mind that this is just the base version of the Samsung Galaxy S20 series. If the base version could be this great, what would you think of the higher versions?
