Design
The IPhone XS Max has the same design as the IPhone X of last year only that it is bigger. It does have a size that is overwhelming, only people with large palm will have some comfortable fee with this phone in Nigeria.
The IPhone XS Max has a thin width (7.7m) with thick rounded edges to match. The front and back glass which helps to give the IPhone XS Max a premium look are stronger now. It’s hard to see it break easily this time.
The IPhone XS Max has a 6.5inch OLED display that is housed into a body with a dimension of 157.5 x 77.4 x 7.7mm. It is amazing to see how apple managed to squeeze in a large screen on a phone like this.
On the right side of the IPhone XS Max is the lock/power button while on the left is a physical mute switch and a volume rocker. The IPhone XS Max is dual sim enabled, there is now esim and nano sim.
The IPhone XS Max didn’t come with some usual features. It wasn’t surprising to see no home button and touch ID anyway, we weren’t expecting to see that after we saw what Apple did with her $1000 phone in Nigeria last year.
It is disappointing to see no headphone jack on the IPhone XS Max. Apple deliberately did this to all her smartphones this year, I guess it’s about time for IOS users in Nigeria to say good bye to the headphone jack but this won’t gain much acceptance in Nigeria.

The IPhone XS Max has a new 6.5inch OLED display that will catch your attention. This new display can accommodate more apps, it is unarguably the biggest I have seen so far on any IPhone in Nigeria.
The display is not as massive as you think but it’s roughly the size of the IPhone 8 plus of last year. The huge display on the IPhone XS Max can accommodate more apps now, you can also do multi-task by splitting your screen into two.
The IPhone XS Max super sharp OLED panel is bright and colorful, it resolution stands at 2688 x 1242 and the pixel density is 458ppi. There is also HDR on the display, this makes the IPhone XS Max very good for watching movies and gaming.
Camera
On the camera segment, the IPhone XS Max has a 12MP dual quad-led true tone flash: one is telephoto, the other is wide angle. The camera has f/1.8 and f/2.4 apertures with a smart HDR feature that helps to improve photo shots effects by a great deal.
The camera app is very easy to use and the pixel size have also increase this time. You can also adjust the level of the background after taking portrait shots with the camera in Nigeria.
The 7MP front-facing camera on the IPhone XS Max has been upgraded, it now has smart HDR and portrait mode feature on the inside. The 7MP camera also does a nice job with broken effects, am pretty sure you would love to try that in Nigeria.
Battery life
Under the hood of the IPhone XS Max is a 3,174mAh battery which appears to be the biggest apple have ever put inside an IPhone since inception. This big upgrade will be very much appreciated in Nigeria.
You know big screen can equal big battery, what about battery efficiency? Can the battery on the IPhone XS Max stand the test of time? Apple claims the battery on the IPhone XS Max has 90 minutes more power than the IPhone X.
Real day of usage, the IPhone XS Max can last for a day on a single charge with moderate usage. If you are a light user and you don’t really do much stuff with your phone, the IPhone XS Max can last for a day and half in Nigeria.
The IPhone XS Max has wireless charging feature. It however, has no dash charging feature to enables fast charging, it is very disappointing to see a feature-filled phone like this not have fast charging feature.
Face ID
Face ID is now the number one choice of biometrics Apple is pushing really hard on her IPhones these days. No more touch ID as we are used to seeing on previously manufactured IPhones in Nigeria.
The face ID on the IPhone XS Max is located on the notch. The face ID is better now but it isn’t perfect, there are still some noticeable lag when under direct sunlight although apple claims it’s more secure.
The response rate on the face ID isn’t as fast as what you are used to seeing on some android flagships like the oneplus 6 in Nigeria. The good thing about face ID on the IPhone XS Max is that it is now integrated into some banking apps to help you pay your bills online.
Operating System
The IPhone XS Max has the latest apple IOS 12 operating system which comes with new cleaned up features like group notification and screen time. Screen time helps you monitor how often you use your phone and what exactly you are using it for.
The IOS 12 uses the touch and swipe gesture as her mode of navigation, it is very easy to use although you might experience some trouble when operating the IPhone XS Max with just one hand in Nigeria.
The IPhone XS Max has a feature called reachability, it allows you draw the screen down by 50 percent but you would have to turn it on yourself. This would go a long way in helping you reach out to every part of your screen without stress.
There is also split-view functionality on IOS 12, the split-view functionality lets you run two apps on the same screen. Presently, not all apps can render this functionality although developers have started working towards making this work on more IOS apps.
Performance
The IPhone XS Max has an A12 bionic chipset that is 40 percent more powerful than the A11 bionic chip of last year. The GPU is also 50 percent more powerful than the one of last year.
From general navigation to hard core gaming and then editing, the IPhone XS Max is just as fast. There was no sign of any lag while using the phone. Geekbench 4 cpu test of the produced a score of 11,465 which is brilliant

The IPhone XS Max is a very expensive phone. It is considered a great phone for top-choice buyers in Nigeria. This is because the IPhone XS Max has a good number of fun-filled features that is targeted at a particular audience.
The IPhone XS Max is absolutely the best choice for all round entertainment, videos streaming and gaming. If you can afford it, I recommend you buy one in Nigeria. You are gonna enjoy it.
