OnePlus Nord – All We Wanted?

As the prices of smartphones continue to jump up every year, there is every tendency that a reasonable amount of smartphone users might prefer to settle for something standard and less expensive at the same time.

These days, we are starting to see the big names getting their hands dirty in the mid-range range market. Samsung has been on the scene for a long time, same with Apple but OnePlus is making her official.

The much talked about or should I say teased OnePlus Nord is here. In the past few days before the launch, there has been a lot of drama about this smartphone. If I may ask? Why all the drama.

Well, the reason is quite simple. The OnePlus Nord was manufactured as a budget smartphone, it managed to hit a price point that is to some extend affordable without lowering quality by an inch. Let’s go into some more details.

OnePlus Nord Price in Nigeria

The OnePlus cost about $400 in Nigeria. It comes in two color options: blue marble and gray onynx. It is going to be available for purchase first in Asia and Europe.

Design & Display

To begin with, the OnePlus Nord looks very similar to some smartphones in her price category. Remember the OPPO find X2? So there is nothing spectacular about the design except that the blue marble color makes everything spicy and that is the most attractive feature here.

The display on the other hand is satisfying. The OnePlus Nord comes with an OLED screen. It has a size of 6.44 inches and a pretty standard display resolution of 2400x1080p and a 409ppi. The most exciting feature of the display is the 90Hz refresh rate.

Camera & Battery

A closer look at the top left corner of the display will draw your attention to the dual selfie cameras with the first being a 32MP, the second is an 8MP lens which is the wide-angle camera. This is not common among smartphones in Nigeria.

At the back are four standard cameras: 48MP main, 8MPultra wide, 5MP depth, and 2MP macro. They all work together as expected, the cameras are not 100% flagship cameras but they shot pretty decent photos and also record videos.

The OnePlus Nord comes with a non-removable 4115mAh battery, it has a standard Warp Charge 30T fast charging (5V/6A) feature available on the charger. This can help you charge from 0 – 70% in 30 minutes.

Final Thoughts

For a moment, smartphone manufacturers are beginning to care about people who can’t afford to lay their hands on the top-tier, high-level, and ridiculously expensive flagship phones.

This is good news for everyone. With OnePlus dishing out the Nord at a time when majority are more interested in buying a mid-range smartphone in Nigeria could mean a lot to us.

The surprising part here is the fact that quality was not sacrificed even though we didn’t get the all-rounded features that is synonymous to high-end flagship but we got something amazing though.
