The infinix zero 5 is finally here; infinix held a launch event on the 14th of November 2017 in Dubai where the Infinix zero 5 was displayed. The infinix zero 5 as expected has better features and specification than the zero 4, some of which include: an improved design, dual rear camera, more battery life, larger screen, vivid display, android 7.0 nougat..e.t.c.
The addition of these new set of features makes the infinix zero 5 more expensive than the zero 4, many are beginning to wonder if it justify the price. Some features are worth appreciating while others are disappointing. Here is a full review of the infinix zero 5 in Nigeria.
Design
The infinix zero 5 is quite big, it has a 7.95mm height and 3.28mm side length. When you take a closer look at it, you will notice the smooth design, elegant metalic texture and charmfered edges around the frame. At the buttom is the USB type-c port, speaker grill and 3.5mm headphone jack; on the right is a dual sim-slot, power and volume buttons. The micro sd card slot is positioned at the left; at the back is a very responsive fingerprint scanner that works perfectly well.
The overall design of the infinix zero 5 is very disappointing, we saw alot of bezeless smartphone release towards the end of 2017, even oneplus had to redesign the oneplus 5 to oneplus 5t inorder to fit in. I was expecting to see a bezeless design from infinix. The infinix zero 5 comes in three (3) main colors: champagne gold, sandstone black and bordeaux red, the bordeaux red color on the infinix zero 5 makes it look very unique and attractive in Nigeria.
Display
The infinix zero 5 has a 5.98inch full HD display with 1080 x 1920 resolution. The display is wonderful, vivid, bright, bigger and better, it is very suitable for gaming, watching movies and music videos in Nigeria.
The display is surrounded by large bezels at the top and buttom, the large bezels at the bottom of the infinix zero 5 is pointless because the navigation buttons are on-screen. The infinix zero 5 comes with XOS 3.0 humming bird user interface which compliment the display.
Camera
The camera on the infinix zero 5 is not that okay for the price. Even though the infinix zero 5 on paper has dual rear camera (12mp wide angle sensor and a 13mp telephoto lens both working together) with 6p + 5p lens, f/2.0 wide angle aperture and f/2.6 telephone aperture, 1.25um huge pixel with 2x optical plus 10x digital zoom, portrait mode and multi-frame noise reduction technology. The camera didn’t perform as expected.
The camera battles with focus, boken shots is average, it over saturate, the indoor performance is poor, detailing and color accuracy is a problem and the software that create artificial blurring on images produce unpleasant result. The digital zoom, professional and portrait mode on the camera app works fine, although the portrait mode is slow. The 16MP selfie with flash led has standard beauty and boken mode but the images coming from the front camera are also not impressive.
Performance
The general performance of the infinix zero 5 is very okay, it comes with a 2.6GHz octa-core mediatek helio p25 MT6757 processor accompanied by a 6GB RAM which is capable of handling alot of multi-tasking but the audio sound coming from the speaker is average.
The gaming experience is awesome although Sambit Satpathy of BRG did notice a one time drop in frame rate while playing games like: asphalt 8, airborne, riptude GP2. The infinix zero 5 comes with a few noticable app like the app freezer for temporary removing app, Xtreme app for themes and wallpaper and the Xhide app which helps to hide apps and pictures. Personal apps can also be protected using a password.
Battery
The battery life of the infinix zero 5 is a selling point, this is one thing that will make you wanna buy this phone in Nigeria. The infinix zero 5 has a 4350mAh Long lasting battery that can serve for a day on a single charge, there is also a power app that helps to save up the battery consumption rate. The Xcharge which suppose to act as a fast-charging feature takes about 2 long hours to full up from 0 to 100%.

Infinix Zero 5 availability and price in Nigeria
The infinix zero 5 is worth $275 which is about ₦100,000 – ₦120,000 in Nigeria.
Final thoughts:
The infinix zero 5 is a middle range phone with excellent battery life, great performance, vivid display with average design and camera. Although the camera quality of this phone is not 100% impressive when compared with other smartphones in the same price tag, an android phone that is worth over ₦100,000 in Nigeria should at least justify the price. If the camera quality on a phone is very important to you, this phone is definitely not for you. The speaker produce sounds that are also not loud enough, this phone is weighs 197g which is a little bit heavy to carry about.
