Google did introduce a laptop to us at her product event held in the month of October, 2019. At last, they have finally decided to continue her laptop series after pausing for a while in 2018.

Remember the Pixelbook in 2017? Well, the Google Pixelbook Go is the child of it. This laptop is less expensive and very portable to handle. It is indeed a laptop on the Go, Google didn’t make any mistake by calling it “Pixelbook Go”.

If by any means you wish your laptop can be so simple and flexible in the sense that you can easily carry on the Go. Something light you know, and also performs greatly. Well, the Pixelbook Go is a Tech to try out.

To begin with, this laptop looks very simple and traditional. There is no 360° hinge here but you can easily open it with a single hand. Yes! Just a single hand. It is a one-handed laptop.

Availability & Price

The Google Pixelbook Go will sell at $649, there is going to be a variant with 16GB RAM and 128GB internal storage that will cost $849.

A premium variant will follow suite with an Intel Core i7 CPU, 16GB RAM and 256GB ROM. It will come with Ultra HD molecular touchscreen. Price starts at $1399.

An Overview of the Google Pixelbook Go

The Google Pixelbook Go is a very thin and light-weight laptop that is easy to carry. It has a nice texture at the back that makes it receive a firm grip in the hand.

Let’s not forget that this laptop weighs only 2 pounds.

When you open up the Google Pixelbook Go, you will notice that there is nothing new in her design especially when you take a good look at the keyboard.

The keyboard looks very traditional and quiet. It comes with a dedicated assistant button that is available for help.

Beside the keyboard, you will find two speaker grills on both sides. They produce  impressive audio sounds. Weather you are playing music or watching YouTube in Nigeria. You will really appreciate the sound that is coming to your ear.

On the edges, there are up to 2 USB-C port (one on each side) for charging or display on this device. On the right, you will find one USB-C port and LED indicator. On the left is another USB-C port, LED indicator and headphone jack.

We are glad to see how thoughtful and considerate Google were to still retain the headphone jack which is almost becoming difficult to live without in Nigeria even when earbuds are clear links to the future.

On the display we’ve got a 13.3 inch 1080 x 1920p colorful HD+ display that is bright enough to keep you entertained. The display is surrounded by an alloy frame even though the body is more of plastic than anything else.

Above the display is a 1080p front-facing camera you can use to record videos at 60 frame per second. Which is great. Skyping with the Pixelbook Go in Nigeria will be a thing of joy. Expect more of excellent and nothing less.

When it comes to storage configuration, the Google Pixelbook Go comes standard with 8GB RAM and 64GB ROM. You will also find an 8th generation fan-less Intel core i5 processor.

On the battery department, you are going to be enjoying up to 12 hours battery life when the Google Pixelbook Go is fully charged to 100% in Nigeria.

Let’s not forget that this laptop runs on Chrome OS, so don’t expect to see any Microsoft Windows interface here.

My Thoughts

If you need a laptop to use on the go, the Google Pixelbook Go will be perfect for you. The only thing you might have to deal with is her Chrome OS which is still a work in progress when compared to Windows.

But that depends on what you need the Google Pixelbook Go for. If you do more of content development, internet research and things like that, you will find the Google Pixelbook Go interesting.

Battery life is another strong factor to consider too. The 12 hours is enough to keep you active for a full day. This is were Chrome OS has its strength. A laptop with solid battery is all we need in Nigeria.
