Apple recently launched her high-end MacBook pro in July 2018, this new MacBook pro appears to be more powerful, good looking and even feels light to handle. It is in fact slim to the core.

Are we saying goodbye to the 2017 MacBook pro in Nigeria already?

The 2018 MacBook pro is a high-end professional laptop with a good number of bumped-up specification inside. One of which is the new 8 generation Intel processor.

The 2018 MacBook pro is expected to replace the MacBook pro of last year, It comes in three variant but am going to be reviewing the 15inch six-core i9 32GB RAM with 4TB inbuilt SSD which is the biggest of them all.

There is also a 2018 MacBook pro with similar specs but six-core i7 processor. The least expensive among all is the 13inch 2018 MacBook pro which has the 8 generation six-core i7 or i5 processor.

I am sure with the little spec disclosure above, you are already wondering what the 2018 MacBook pro is capable of doing in Nigeria. Let’s dive in, what’s new on the 2018 MacBook pro?

The 15inch 2018 MacBook pro with six-core i9 is selling at $6,700 which is about 2,412,000 in Nigeria. The low variant cost $2,399 (about 863,640 in Nigeria).

Design

The 2018 Macbook pro looks very slim and portable, one can easily rate it as one of the slimmest laptops in Nigeria. However, the biggest change or better still, newest upgrade in her design this year is the keyboard.

Apple seem to have worked on a new keyboard which appears to be apple’s third generation butterfly switch keyboard. This new keyboard is quiet now, it gives you an amazing typing experience. So no more ridiculous noise when typing with this laptop in Nigeria.

Also on the keyboard of the 2018 MacBook pro is a Touch bar which seem to have replace the function keys. To access this Touch bar, all you need to do is place your fingerprint to log in, although windows face log in with “Hello” is more appealing to me.

Display

The 2018 Macbook pro has an excellent display even though it’s not the best in Nigeria. The 2018 Macbook pro now has a true tone display which lets you adjust the color temperature of this laptop.

Specification and Performance

Talking about numbers, the 2018 MacBook pro is well loaded with specs, only few laptops can actually withstand this laptop in Nigeria. On the 2018 MacBook pro, there are 4 Thunderbolt 3, 4 USB-C port, an 8 generation powerful six-core i9 processor and a new T2 chip.

This new T2 chip is capable of rendering a whole punch of task like apple Siri which does almost the same thing as cortana system on windows. The T2 chip can also handle file encryption in Nigeria.

The battery life performance of this laptop is about the same with that of last year’s MacBook pro in Nigeria. Even though the 2018 MacBook pro has more battery capacity, it’s only large because of the high processor and RAM which happens to chop off all the extra battery life.

So don’t expect to see any major improvement in the battery life performance of this laptop.

One more thing

There was this issue about thermal throttling with the apple MacBook pro. At launch, the Apple MacBook pro performed poorly when it was compared with the 2017 MacBook pro with core i7.

This wowed a lot of people in the Tech community but thank God apple in quick response confirmed that it was true, there was a missing digital key in the frame ware. Apple resolved this issue via software update. The 2018 MacBook pro performs faster now.
