Huawei Mate 30 Pro – For the Love of Huawei

Yes! We know there is a US ban that prevents Huawei from shipping their products into America but that shouldn’t stop us from appreciating an upgrade when we see one.

The Huawei Mate 30 Pro is here, the number one best camera smartphone the company have ever produced have landed looking a lot different from what we were all expecting.

In a world where the camera on smartphones are becoming better every year, it would be easy to say you don’t need a camera anymore in Nigeria.

Just buy a smartphone and you are good, or better still let me put it straight. Buy the Huawei Mate 30 Pro and forget about making use of a camera in Nigeria.😉

Don’t mind me, am only kidding. What am trying to say is simple; the Huawei Mate 30 Pro has the best camera any Huawei phone can have as far as 2019 is concern period.

Aside her camera, the Huawei Mate 30 Pro comes with a notch that will first of all make you wonder if they choose to go backwards especially when you place it side by side with other new Huawei Phones in Nigeria.

Design

The Huawei Mate 30 Pro is more than a piece of an artwork. Her curved edged display says it all already. What about the weird camera setup at the back? It’s amazing too.

We are gradually shifting from vertically camera styling placement to a whole new setup that initially looks funny but is gradually becoming a culture in the Tech community.

Apple not to long ago showed us how a camera is expected to look like on a good day in the month of September. Huawei just confirmed that. So don’t be surprise to see more new smartphones get this design feature in Nigeria.

There is also another thing to notice on the Huawei Mate 30 Pro; the absence of physical buttons at the right. This is where our volume and power buttons were suppose to be right?

Although the Power button is still physical but the volume buttons are not.

Huawei shun all of that by introducing what they called side-touch interaction. Instead of just staring at the curved edges around the display, the company felt it was good to put invisible buttons there.

I love that!

A good look at the Huawei Mate 30 Pro will lead you to the notch at the top where the 3D depth sensing camera and gesture sensor are.

The overall design of this new flagship is a balance of aesthetic and comfort. Don’t you think so?

Display

As stated earlier, the Huawei Mate 30 Pro comes with a 6.5 inch OLED panel with curved edged display. The ultra-curved screen extend the horizon for an ultimate immersive viewing experience.

Huawei call’s it a horizon display with endless screen. The curved edges comprises of an encircled glass with 88 degree ultra-curves which gives you a natural touch and hold in the palm.

With her 16.7 million colors on the Huawei Mate 30 Pro, you are going to find the display very interesting and fun to use in Nigeria. At last, we have seen a smartphone that dears to rob shoulders with Samsung. 😊

Camera

The camera is the biggest feature on the Huawei Mate 30 Pro. I really love the design of the camera. It makes the Mate 30 Pro looks like a mini camera from the back.

When you see it, you already can tell that this is a camera smartphone.

On the Huawei Mate 30 Pro are 4 (quad) cameras inside a Halo ring. We’ve got a 40MP cine camera, 40MP super sensing camera, 8MP telephoto and a 3D depth sensing camera.

The three main cameras on the Huawei Mate 30 Pro works closely to deliver the excellent 5x Hybrid Zoom effects and also record ultra low-light, ultra-slow motion and ultra wide angle time-lapse videos.

The super sensing and cine camera will help you discover the beauty of nature and also find the rich details and clarity in every picture taken during the day or at night.

The sensing camera also supports AI Image Stabilization. This implies that even when you shake the Huawei Mate 30 Pro while taking photos in Nigeria, the camera won’t get distracted.

Battery life

Huawei did upgrade the battery life of the Mate 30 Pro by inputing a 4500mAh inside. The phone now have better power efficiency and intelligent power management system because of her new chipset.

The battery is very okay. At least, you are sure of enjoying up to two days on moderate usage. You can now enjoy more screen on time with the Huawei Mate 30 Pro in Nigeria.

To ensure you don’t go through any battery stress, Huawei chipped in a 40W Supercharge,27W wireless charging and reverse charge on the Mate 30 Pro.

Software, Spec & More

The Huawei Mate 30 Pro comes with a pre-installed Android 10 OS. Yes it still runs on android but all of Google Services like Google play store and Google assistant are gone.

EMUI 10 which we all know is Huawei’s primary User Interface runs perfectly on this device. It now have Dark mode that can help you conserve more battery and is easy on your eye.

The gesture sensor on the notch can help you identify your facial expressions and even detect the movement of your hands. You can simply unlock when you look at the screen, screenshot and do some slide-changing easily when you swipe your hands from a distance.

Huawei, for the very first time is using her home-made Kirin 990 on her device and the Huawei Mate 30 Pro is the first to have one.

Huawei says it has a fast speed, low latency, long usage time and strong image processing capabilities. Let’s not forget that the Kirin 990 also assist with battery management.

On the storage department, the Huawei Mate 30 Pro is well equipped. It comes with 8GB RAM and 256GB ROM with expandable options. There is also a 16-core Mali G76 GPU inside.

The Huawei Mate 30 Pro can also be integrated with your laptop in Nigeria. There are private security features like App lock, file encryption and private space for better security.

As we all know, the Huawei Mate 30 Pro comes with an in-display fingerprint scanner and face unlock that is much faster now.

My Thoughts

The Huawei Mate 30 Pro is best described as an almost perfect flagship that deserve some credit especially when you rate it in the area of design, battery and camera.

There is only one problem with this smartphone; no Google Services even though it is running on Android 10. This is going to be a deal breaker for many in Nigeria.

If you are willing to test the waters with Huawei App Gallery and services as well, you can give the Mate 30 Pro a try but be warned, it is lonely out there.

Although Huawei said they are investigating A billion dollar on her software ecosystem but that is going to take some time to pay off.

I also must let you know that there is a 5G version of the Huawei Mate 30 Pro even though 5G is not fully integrated in Nigeria yet.
