How to Buy or Place an order on Jumia

Online shopping is a 21st century phenomenon. It is something anyone who actually claims to have been born in this era should be conversant with.

Jumia is currently my number one e-commerce website in Africa. This is where I buy almost every new stuffs on the web. You can only imagine how much I love shopping online.



Infact, my previous and most recent smartphones where bought on Jumia. I have also helped some friends place order or better still buy on Jumia.

At first, I thought everyone probably knows how to place an order on Jumia until the day a friend bluntly told me she don’t know how to do that.

To be honest, I felt so surprised but I later got to find out that she wasn’t the only one, there are many out there who can’t do the same in Nigeria.

Anyway, do not be dismay, it’s no big deal at all. Thank God you are the only one viewing this. Do your let anyone one see the page you are on, just roll up your sleeves and learn fast. (Joking)

To place an order on Jumia is not difficult at all, it is among the simplest things you can do without going through any stress what so ever.

It is a very simple step that can take just few minutes of your very precious time. Just go through the steps below and you are good to go.

Let’s the show begin….

How to Buy or place an order on Jumia.

Step 1:

It  is possible you landed on Jumia website from a refered link and you are already seeing items displayed on the website. You can start shopping immediately or…

Simply  head straight to Jumia website and search for the item(s) you want to buy.

Step 2:

Go through the list of searched item and select the one you prefer.

You are going to see different prices and colors for the item you searched for, so select the one that suites you best.

Step 3:

After selecting, go through the details and click on the “Add to cart or Buy now ” button. Which ever you see there

Step 4:

You will see an added to cart that will pop-up on your screen. Go ahead and tap the “view cart and check out button”.

Step 5:

Tap the orange “check out” button

Step 6:

Create a Jumia account or login if you have one already.

Jumia will request for your account details, you will need to fill in your email and password or connect using Facebook.

If you have an account and can’t recall your password just hit the forget your password link.

Your password will be sent directly to your email. Go, check and finish things up.

Step 7:

After you have successfully created a new Jumia account, you will be taken straight to “select a delivery method”.

Choose between door delivery, subscribe to Jumia Prime or pick up station.

Step 8:

Select a payment method: pay on the delivery, Jumia pay or other.

Pay on delivery means you will pay for the item you place an order on when it get delivered to you.

But if you want to pay right away, you can select Jumia pay or others.

Step 9:

Head to the bottom, you will see “you have a voucher?” if you do, enter your voucher code otherwise click “next”.

As a first timer you don’t usually get a voucher code.

Step 10:

This page is tag summary, here you need to go through your details once more to ensure that everything is ok.

If you are cool with the details on your screen, click “confirm”.

Wrap up:

You will be taken to a new screen where Jumia will tell you “thank You”.

That’s not all, you will then receive a text message with a provided link requesting you to click to confirm your order.

Do as instructed and that’s it.

Congratulations you have just successfully placed an order on Jumia.

  1. I live at agbara badagry axis. My question is can they deliver my item down there cos I want to order for about four bulky items cos last time I bought my phones, power bank and Bluetooth ear piece, the customer relation officer that spoke to me said they don’t cover that area hence I had to pick them up at my mum’s residence at orile.
